This page contains a list of available lesson plans. As the list grows, ways will be added to search for the plan that you need.

These lesson plans are designed to be ready to go. All the background information you need to be able to teach a subject will be provided. Any needed overheads will be provided. Any needed handouts will be provided. If appropriate, quizzes and evaluation materials will be provided. Please use them, share them, reproduce them, but make sure TerraX.org receives credit.

Biology

Flora
Botanical Gardens
This teaches the value of botanical gardens.  It comes in one and three day versions.  In the longer version it also teaches creativity and map developing skills, as well as helping to develop reasoning skills.

Communication

Morse Code
This uses a game to teach sending and receiving Morse Code.  Involves eye-hand coordination, listening skills, spelling, and recognition of difficulties in communication.  Also teaches skills that can be useful in assimilating other languages.
Pennants
This instructs in the use of pennants (or flags) to send and receive messages. Involves understanding symbolism, spelling, and culture.  Promotes recognition of difficulties in communication.

Geography

Australia
Lifestyles
This uses a story of one mans life to teach about the lifestyles of Australians in the early 1900's.  It also teaches skills in creating skits and group working skills.   This three day lesson plan may be shortened to a one day lesson easily by leaving off the last two days.

Geology

Volcanoes
Mount St. Helens
This uses the example of the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens to teach about volcanic eruptions and the process of recovery after an eruption.  Promotes skills in comunication, computer use, and presentation as well as group working skills.  Comes in a one day or four day version.

Math

Compass use
This uses a game to teach how to do compass corrections.  Involves adding and subtracting, understanding east and west, understanding the effect of magnetic north and metal on compasses.

Oceanography

Coral Reefs
This uses hands on experiments and reading materials to teach about reef conservation.   It involves building an understanding of reefs and our interaction with them.
