the chambered nautilus. This is a very readable book, written for adults, but very
readable.

- The Great Barrier Reef: The Worlds Wild Places. By Craig McGregor.
Time-Life Books: Amsterdam, 1974. This is a good description of the Great Barrier
Reef. The photographs are outstanding and the content is very well written.
- Water Ecology by Jennifer Cochrane. The Bookwright Press: NY, 1987. For young
readers. Has some ecology projects which use build your own equipment. Looks at reef
ecology.
- Although this site is talking about plankton in Florida coastal
waters, not Australia, it is an excellent source of information.
- Plankton: Drifting life of the waters. by Julian May, Holiday House: New York,
1972. Childrens book. This is good Jr. High material. The writing style is quite
young.
- Information about 1998 as International Year of the Ocean, as well as general
information about out oceans is available at this site.

site gives an overview of coral forests. It also contains teachers reasources.
- NOAA talks about the oceans in general and reefs in specific at this site.
- This site has information about coral bleaching, along with
tracking statistics around the world.
