While sailing off the coast of California my husband and I were fortunate enough to see whales.

Orcas:

Then while sailing in Seattle we saw Orca's, which are actually of the dolphin family.

It was really neat to be able to see a young orca.  It looked like he was more interested in playing then in eating and he was not afraid of  sailboat so got close.

This female orca seemingly appeared out of nowhere while we were headed back toward the dock.  She surfaced about a foot from the boat and swam the entire length before going back down.  It is awesome and a little humbling to see a mammal larger then your boat that close in the wild.

Peaceful?

This is a picture taken from Hikum Naval Base in Hawaii. It may give you the feel of what it is like to sail under the landing zone of a large airport. Then again you may need the sound effects to appreciate it completely.  Sailing in Hawaii can be really fun, but it is not always peaceful.  Between dodging nuclear subs, freighters, and listening to the planes it was a challenge more then anything else.

My House and more:

These are both views from my house. It rained a lot this summer, thus the cloudy picture. Makes construction slow when you get 6 inches of rain in a month when the norm is 0.03 inches.

This is me. In this picture I am standing on the foundation for my addition. I was so tired of digging and breaking through rocks with a pick ax that I decided to build on stilts instead. So after I put in the posts I put down a frame to lay the floor on.

This may help give you a feel for the building conditions in the Mountains. The front of the floor is almost 6 feet off the ground!

This is a picture from a hike that I took this summer. The trail head for this hike is only 20 miles from my house.
